Some of our pets showed various allergic reactions to a few of the ingredients that are often used to "bulk out" many of the general pet-foods that we had tried and so we researched the issues and problems in some depth. Lennie also suffered from Addison's disease for 13 years and Sandy suffers from hip displasia but we kept them all going through research and selection of the right foods and medications - often needing to point out the results of our research to our vets.

This research opened our eyes to the problems associated with keeping pets healthy and lively and we have strived to ensure that the various foodstuffs we supply provide the accepted levels of nutrition whilst not invoking allergic responses, consisting of questionable by-products of the meat processing industry or being bulked out with various left-overs from other processing methods and industries.

There are also many pet foodstuffs and treatments which raise ethical and moral questions with the associated development, production and testing methods used by the manufacturers.  We see no reason why animals should be mistreated in the name of commerce or, in fact, for any other reason either and so our product ranges are chosen accordingly.

You will notice that we do not offer many of the high profile and heavily marketed foodstuffs and we feel that there are good reasons for this stance. In fact certain manufacturers specifically target veterinary practices and provide tremendous incentives for the promotion of their products and the costs of this promotion are covered by the cost of the products themselves - whilst there may be benefits associated with these foods in some circumstances we suggest that you study the literature very carefully and then compare with our products.
